While the reverse-engineering is ongoing, Chipworks has already ascertained that the A7 is made by Samsung, not TSMC, despite the ongoing legal battles between the two companies. It also turns out that, despite the significant time spent discussing and extolling the virtues of the M7 coprocessor, it’s really just a tiny, standard Cortex-M3 core.
